Balancing the Zhiyun-Tech Crane 3s

The Zhiyun-Tech CRANE 3S Handheld Stabilizer is a powerful redesign of previous Zhiyun gimbals with the addition of detachable handle options, more powerful motors with a large 6,4kg payload, an updated axis-locking system, external power input, and the ViaTouch 2.0 remote control system.

The 55° angled roll axis allows you to fit your camera without blocking the view, and it is also modular so you can add an included extension arm to fit larger cameras.

Balancing a machine like this can be quite the task, but with these simple steps, you should be balancing in no time

Crane 3s Balance Adjustment

To facilitate the adjustment procedure, we recommend locking the three axes of the crane 3s before the adjustment and unlock and adjust them one by one.

  1. Unlock the tilt axis and Quick Release Plate Latch, push the camera to move
    forward or backward until the camera can stay still and almost level with its
    lens facing front (as shown below). Complete this step by tightening up Quick
    Release Plate Latch.
  2. Make the lens face up, slightly loosen the thumb screw of the tilt axis, and push
    the camera to move upward or downward until the camera can stay still with the lens
    facing up. Complete this step by tightening up the thumb screw.
    Balance Adjustment
    Unlock the roll axis, and slightly loosen the roll axis thumb screw under the quick
  3. release plate, push the camera to move left or right until the camera can stay still and
  4. horizontal to the ground. Complete this step by tightening up thumb screw.
  5. Unlock the pan axis, slightly loosen the thumb screw on it, then adjust the pan
  6. axis until it stays still and horizontal to the ground. Complete this step by tightening
  7. up thumb screw.
